Year 5

Year 5 pupils…

Happy New Year! I hope you all had an amazing Christmas break and were able to relax. I’m sure lots of you are looking forward to getting back to school! This term, though short, is going to be packed with activities and learning that I’m sure you are going to enjoy.
Our topic this term is ‘My oh Mayan’. During this topic we will be looking at the Mayan way of life and comparing this with life today. We will also be comparing food similarities and differences, looking at the end of the civilisation, and delving into their beliefs and gods.
We will also be looking at the geography of central and south America and its human and physical features. We will also be designing and testing architectural structures and replicating Mayan style art.
In maths, we will be looking at the formal written methods for multiplication and division, before moving on to fractions.
In English, we will be following the new English scheme of ‘The Write Stuff’ and we will be writing about the video ‘ The fantastic flying books of Mr Morris Lessmore’ and ‘Kick’.
P.E is on a Monday and a Tuesday, so please ensure your child has their P.E kit on these days.
