Year 2 pupils…
Welcome to the Year 2 section of the Alban Wood webpage.
Dear parents / carers
I hope you had a fun summer and that the children are rested and raring to go for this jam packed year of learning.
Mrs Stacey and I are excited to welcome the children back to the classroom and are looking forward to everything we have planned for this year. We have everything crossed for a more ‘normal’ academic year!
In the Autumn term we will be using London as a starting point in our Foundation subjects, we will begin by learning about London as a city in the United Kingdom and its geographical features. We will then focus on the Great Fire of London and the Gun Powder Plot. We are hoping to have some special visitors and will be going to the Museum of London to see the Great Fire of London exhibit.
In English we will be starting our learning based around the Circus with a whole school Take One Book Week. We will then be using Little Red Reading Hood when we focus on familiar texts. Our non-fiction unit will be based on the Great Fire of London.
In Maths we will be focusing on place value, addition and subtraction, money and we will also begin to look at multiplication and division.
We have PE on a Thursday and a Friday, but please make sure children have their PE kits in school every day.
It’s vital that we work together in partnership to support your child’s learning and development. If you need to speak to me quickly you can catch me at the end of the day, or if it’s likely to take a little longer please speak to the office to arrange a convenient time when I can call you or meet in person.
