Year 2 pupils…
Welcome to the Year 2 section of the Alban Wood webpage.
The children have made a fantastic start to the academic year in what are unprecedented and very unusual times. We are very proud of the positivity and enthusiasm they have shown so far and we are looking forward to a very busy Autumn Term.
Our Topic this half Term is ‘Shipwrecked’. During the topic we will be looking at Oceans and the creatures which make their homes below the waves and on the coral reefs (We will be making coral reef dioramas). We will then look at British seaside resorts – past and present including traditional entertainment such as puppet shows where we will be making hand puppets using running stitch. We will also be learning about the history of lighthouses and the bravery of Grace Darling.
In Maths we will be focusing on numbers to 20, place value, counting on and back, ordering and comparing and estimating.
In English we will work on Traditional Tales, Poetry and Recounts.
Our Science will be based on Animals including humans during the first half of the Autumn term and then Living things and their Habitats in the second half of the term as both of these have cross over links to our ‘Shipwrecked’ topic.
Given the current circumstances we are not able to operate an open door policy but will endeavour to speak to parents over the telephone or via google meets.
PE is on a Tuesday and Friday but children need to have PE kits in school every day.
