In the Early Years we have been exploring people who help us at home and in school. We have extended our learning to people who help us in the wider community. We are so lucky to have had Captain Matt a parent to one of the children in to explain his job. Captain Matt is a Pilot and the children learnt how he flies planes and has to be very careful checking the plane is safe to fly. Captain Matt asked the children questions. The children were able to answer his questions and learnt some new information and so did the adults. We learnt the plane that Captain Matt flies has three engines. Captain Matt brought his work bag with him and showed the children equipment he needs to help him stay save and check the plane with. He also took some photos inside the plane and of the control panel. They even got to see a photo of the beautiful blue sky as he landed yesterday. The children got to ask some questions; “Have you seen a flying unicorn with wings?” Unfortunately Captain Matt has yet to see one but said he will look out for one! “Does your plane do loop to loop?” No is the answer as it is too big. “Have you jumped out of an Aeroplane?” the answer was yes but in Australia in a much smaller plane. A very big thank you to Captain Matt we had such a good time. Well done to the children who showed amazing skills at listening, and being able ask and answer some fantastic questions.
