We celebrated NSPCC’s Number Day by using Smarties to continue our work with hundredths, tenths and decimals. We investigated how many groups of 100 Smarties we had in Year 4, firstly by looking at the different colours of Smarties in our own tubes before sharing data in groups and finally as a class. We found we had 903 Smarties in total. That’s 903 hundredths or 9.03 groups! Yellow Smarties were the most popular colour by a long way at 161/100, or 1 whole, 6 tenths and 1 hundredth of our total!
