I have been amazed at the Year 1’s buildings this week!
Our Design Technology started by discussing our likes and dislikes for lots of quirky buildings like the Basket Building in the USA, The Crooked House in Poland and the Rotating Building in Dubai!
Next we started to look at paper shaping techniques. We discussed work by Rommert Boonstra, Polly Verity and Peter Callesen before exploring lots of paper shaping techniques ourselves during the live session and at home including tearing, puncturing, folding, twisting, crumpling and curling.
We designed buildings that included at least two different paper shaping techniques and junk modelling. This week we have been making and evaluating our work. I wonder if you can spot which paper shaping techniques the children have used?
