Year 1 pupils…
This term half learning will include focuses on ‘All About Me’ and ‘People who Help Us’. Then we will move on to Fireworks, Autumn, Senses and Christmas. This will be adapted depending on children’s interests and next steps. If you have any books, resources of photographs that would support our learning this term please bring them in. Make sure they are named. Thank you in advance!
Our topic this term is ‘Toys through Time.’ We will be learning lots about toys from the past; the materials of toys and how these have changed over time, the origin of certain toys geographically, and we will be incorporating our topic into maths and literacy too!
We have kicked off this term looking at the picture book, ‘Flotsam’ as part of our ‘Take one Book Week’ and will be working towards the children writing a third person setting description.
In science we will be learning about materials and linking it to specific toys and their purposes, and we will be beginning to explore and justify the reasons for material choices.
Our three school values of respect, Kindness and ambition will continue to heavily underpin everything that we do on a daily basis, across the curriculum. This will help grow the positive and secure atmosphere that has been established in class throughout the Autumn term.
Our library slot (Friday) and PE slots (Monday and Tuesdays) are unchanged so please can we all ensure the children have their PE kits at school all week as this has started to drop slightly which is resulting in come children missing PE and being unable to change their library books, thank you!
The same as last term, we adopt an open-door policy, so please do speak to me, Mrs Neighbour or Miss Czaikowska (Thursdays) if you have any queries, worries or concerns either before or after school. You are also more than welcome to make appointments to come and see me if that’s more convenient.
Thank you and I look forward to our continuing communication and mutual support!
