Year 1 pupils…
Welcome to year 1’s Website Page!
We hope you all had a great summer and are as excited as we are to be starting a new year. The children have settled in brilliantly already and we are all looking forward to everything the Autumn term will bring.
Our topic this half term is London. We will be learning lots about our Capital City, incorporating aspects that the Children have suggested they would like to learn about such as; Paddington Bear which we will link into our English lessons, and historical events, such as the great fire of London and Guy Fawkes, which will then inform our Art and D&T.
In maths, we will be reproducing a London skyline using 3D shapes, practicing positional language, finding patterns in numbers to 10, estimating and exploring addition and subtraction further.
In science we will be learning about animals, including humans and in Geography, we will be concentrating on compass directions and locational language based in London and throughout the UK.
Our three school values of respect, Kindness and ambition will be heavily underpinning everything that we do on a daily basis, across the curriculum. This will help develop a positive and secure atmosphere where all our children feel comfortable and ready to learn.
Our library slot is on Friday and PE slots are Monday and Tuesdays, but please ensure the children have their PE kits at school all week, thank you!
Where at all possible, we adopt an open-door policy, so please do speak to me, Mrs Neighbour or Miss Czaikowska (Thursdays) if you have any queries, worries or concerns either before or after school. You are also more than welcome to make appointments to come and see me if that’s more convenient.
